Great question. Kept my shoes on and never dropped a blade. Just counting fingers for this one. 😉

Seriously? I’d watch Hallmark Christmas movies for 24 hours if the payout was $1m.

If you like Kaiju as a category - watch both Pacific Rim (classic Kaiju B movie) & the AppleTV series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Both are a lot of fun.

Read it - along with almost everything else he’s written. His stuff is almost always fun. Laptop for the gaming - books for everything else!! 😀👍

The only time corporations prioritize the needs of the workforce is when talent is truly scarce. Otherwise, it’s easier to hire and train than aggressively invest in retention. With regard to salary levels, all companies adjust C&B structures to be equivalent to market averages.

It s a reflection of the reality that redundancies always exist in the wake of an acquisition. Executives would arguably not be delivering on their fiduciary duties to shareholders if they chose not to recognize and eliminate those redundancies.

We can agree to disagree. You’re referencing one single aspect of corporate reality - M&A. I’ve done plenty of deals as well and whether options / shares are included in Executive pay packages, staff will always be reduced in the wake of an acquisition.

I’ pretty confident that if options weren’t included in Management C&B packages, it would make little difference with regard to workforce policy.

In reality and under law, public companies are obligated to no one but their shareholders. Their 1st and never to be compromised priority is the strength of their share price. Their critical decisions - including those that impact the welfare of the workforce, are driven by that priority.

Quick comment on this - there’s an assumption here that if options weren’t part of management C&B packages, that management teams would be more sympathetic to the concerns of their workers. Having lived in that world for many years, I’d have to respectfully disagree.

Cheering for the Cowboys only guarantees a lifetime of heartbreak. They’re not a team built to win championships. They’re a team built to make money and feed the ego of one man. Sad to say - I gave up on them years ago and won’t pick them back up until JJ is gone.

It’s actually been a beautiful winter day. My wife and I went out for a 2 mile walk with our dog this evening. Enjoyed every minute. BTW - this is coming from someone who grew up in TX.

I live there and - TBH - it’s not that bad. This has been the warmest winter we’ve had since I lived here. It was in the 50s on Christmas Day. The weather people just need something to talk about.

Long story short - the guy from the Gas Company came out - did diagnostics - and sure enough, we had a minor leak in the basement. His advice - when your wife tells you they smell gas, don’t argue. Women Always smell it before men do. Another critical learning experience for me. 😀

Quick story - my wife once told me she smelled gas in the house. I didn’t smell anything and told her so but went ahead and called the Gas Company (better safe than sorry AND I learned a long time ago that this is not something you dispute with your wife).

I’d also say that while he’s earned a historic retirement, he may also be retiring partly bc college football is looking more and more like professional football every day. Money is dramatically changing the game.

That was 17 years ago - I don’t think he’s the same man. I think it’s also possible that while he wasn’t meant to coach in the NFL, he was uniquely suited to coach a college program. You can’t deny the man his accomplishments and the standards he’s set.

I’m a big believer in waking by Starbucks if there’s a small business alternative. TBH - I don’t think Starbucks coffee is all that good. Be have several indie roasters and one local coffee shop in the Village - very lucky.
