thread about the importance of understanding fandom communities. I was working hard to make Spoutible succeed. But many of my creative associates have been smacked here for genuine concerns. Time to go.

Until today, this was my new fave social media platform. I don't think you realize how much of a problem this is going to be. There are 1,000s of romance writers. Most who dipped a toe in here are dipping back out. I'll hang for now, but if the peeps I follow are gone, I will be, too.
Christopher Bouzy @cbouzy
No, but @courtneymilan is more than welcome to start a social media platform and write the terms of service and policies however she likes. But the policy isn't changing, nor is it being rewritten. Spoutible will not please everyone, but thankfully there are other options for those who aren't happy.

I think Romancelandia's time on here will be very short.

So, this is the friendly site where harasment isn't allowed that @cbouzy wanted @spoutible to be? Cause the NWLs are out of control.

Utterly amazing that this is treatment of writers is being allowed here. Si much for a nicer place.
Gloria Harmon @itsmommy
I'm with you. This whining is ridiculous. At least I've learned where to find the all important "block" button 😃 All "romance writers" please leave @cbouzy alone.

I had been excitedly telling people about Spoutible since I pre-registered as soon as the idea was launched. But this is embarrassing. Not only is the policy wrong, but these responses lack a certain kind of calm steadiness at the wheel that a site like this would need to mature and survive. ☹️

Supposed liberals asking why the TOS language is an issue: MeToo isn't over, queer bodies and lifestyles are being attacked on the merits of parts parts daily, media that contains an iota of intimacy, including network TV shows, romance novels, and even YA books focusing on bodies, are bannable.

We wouldn’t be seeing that anyway. Fabio is very 20th century romance.

Romance writers are worried that the books on their website violates the TOS of @Spoutible . That's rubbish. A law writer is worried that if she posts R. Jean Carroll's testimony of what TFG did, that it violates TOS. It's news. I offered to post it. Haven't heard from her yet.

Just to be clear: I’m pretty sure that posting links to romance novels that contain sex scenes violates this policy.

One concern that keeps coming up is we were promised very transparent moderation and yet people are receiving suspensions today without being told why.

In the coming days we're going to get a lot of retrospectives and analysis of the Carter presidency, but here's what I know: when Carter lost to Reagan in 1980, my dad told a 10-year-old me "this is the worst thing to happen to America since Hoover" and I think he might have been right.

Literally a response to someone who reviews books in the New York Times. That’s where we are with this policy.

It would be nice to be able to post links to a New York Times book review of a romance novel.

I’m sorry you feel this is a place to discuss issues related to your “work” that some of us who prefer to keep our phones and devices family friendly find unsafe. I’m a first waver who voted against porn on this site. My grandchildren often play with my phone. Nothing personal to you or anyone.

This is a generous offer, @cbouzy There’s a huge community of writers&readers called Romancelandia & an equally large group of YA (young adult) readers w writers whose YA books are being banned simply for including LBGTQ characters. We are all on edge. Please let @courtneymilan help you clarify.

Whatever you think of adult content on this site directly, this is not good language, it’s not good policy, and it is extremely fixable. @cbouzy I am happy to help try to come up with a policy that provides clear guidance, meets general aims of external bodies, while preserving necessary discussion.

He closed down mental health facilities, drastically cut social services, he destroyed Union power, got rid of the Fairness Doctrine, gave rise to the Tea Party and he basically paved the road for Trump. He was horrible.

I am listening to Joe Scarborough going on about the greatness of Ronald Reagan. Did I miss something, he was the worst. The man who gave us Fox News and trickle down economics. 👎
