Truth. I always say it's not hypocrisy; it's supremacy. The unifying thread is that whatever behavior is in discussion is a protected right for white men and a handout or crime for anyone else.

Oh, not the same department...

It makes me think of Philando Castile. These young men never stand a chance in the face of such casual cultural regard, just rendered expendable by melanin and proximity.

I just heard on CBS that a neighbor led them to his door...so they didn't cross-check and confirm? The deputy literally enters, gun drawn and pointed... It's a horror show. This poor young man and his family.

Then came back to try to "both sides" it, they were "both trolling," etc. There's no "Neutral" on the gear shift. There's just "dominate" or "destroy." Regardless of context . Tired.

It has been so wild to watch...post after post after post... The script is so predictable the minute there's the smallest sense of being told what to do, esp by a Black woman. Even assured, measurable self-destruction is no deterrant.

Yep. Military brat here. My parents were very supportive of my protesting; I was a child of two outspoken firsts in their fields. But there was no question for any of us that it was a risk, for multiple reasons.

Re assembling in buildings, that was my earlier note about public buildings. Those are the spaces where assembly may be allowed, as long as it isn't disrupting proceedings or violating laws. So, for example, you'll see protestors inside chambers at government meetings.

Exactly. Being Black doesn't exempt you from being biased against Black people (just as women can be biased against other women).

I think I'm hearing you're not aggravated about the assembling in the buildings, just the privilege with which some protestors are operating. If so, understood.

Yes, I know you're Black; I follow you. I am, too, and protested, too.

Municipal laws can't override federal, constitutional rights.

The reason public universities are responding differently than private ones is due to the First Amendment.

And how that's enforced includes race and class.

As you research, focus on public, as in government owned and typically accessible to the public, buildings (e.g., protesting in a legislative building). The right is not unlimited, i.e., you can't block pathways, cause harm, or otherwise do illegal things in the process of assembling.

One note - the right to peaceably assemble is a Constitutional right (federal), as opposed to a state-level one. And this definition is important to read. It protects my right to assemble, as opposed to other people's rights to never be inconvenienced by that assembly.

Peaceful does not mean everyone else continues life without disruption or discomfort. It means not employing physical harm. In a culture where mainstream citizens only respond to issues if they're personally affected, it is a history-tested tactic.

I saw a news report yesterday with students in Gaza sending gratitude for the global student protests. I think the report said 200 schools in Gaza have been destroyed during the war. I'm trying to remember where I saw it.

Yes, I understood and was replying to the point you were making. There isn't a reason to discuss loan forgiveness in general because most PPP loans were forgiven. The reason it's discussed at all is in the specific context of recipients decrying others enjoying forgiveness. Dems aren't doing that.

Adding: that level of sexualized behavior from a child should have triggered Mandatory Reporting with regard to the transgressor, as well. It's a primary indicator of possible sexual abuse. Someone also needs to check on his situation while they protect the girls.

The WH isn't disclosing or withholding info. It's public record via financial disclosure statements reps are required to file. What triggers people to search those public records is when the rep complains about others getting loans forgiven.
