Feels true. Sitting here 7 weeks into a shattered ankle/lower leg. Learning so much about how complicated ankles are -- both the bones and the soft tissues. Yikes! See the surgeon again tomorrow. Hoping to get cleared to start bearing weight on my injured leg. Life on crutches = not easy.

All hail the continuous icing machine a pal loaned me during my LONG recovery from a shattered ankle (surgically repaired with internal fixation). I can't walk or drive until probably mid summer, but slow & steady with the healing! Trauma surgeon was happy with my range of motion this week.

For those playing the home game, the first big medical EOB for my ankle / leg fractures (and dislocation) total just over $98K before insurance did its thing. Even then, my out-of-pocket costs total ~$7500. *sigh I'm grateful for my #ACAinsurance , but still. Not great financial news.

Well, kids. Landed myself in the hospital, needing trauma orthopedists to pin and plate my leg and ankle back together. For future reference ... a dislocated ankle *really hurts. Gonna be a long / slow recovery, starting with 8-10 weeks non-weight bearing. 🥴
