The fireplace lifestyle is unlocking a new ::limit usage:: level, I'd imagine. (I have a fireplace but I'll take my chances with the chilly willy & costs before Imma have to run the risk of involving the fire service.) But I'm right there at 66. ...They (power co's) have us over a barrel. 😒

Yep. I've been through it enough times to realize that they live on in our memories, and we are given an infinite capacity for love. So, when ready, I fill that dog or cat shaped hole in my heart with a new furry soul to love for their next short lifetime. Rusty is 9, Skye is 8.

It's never long enough, right? They were ready- both were arthritic, deaf, blind, Byrdie had to wear diapers and had some pain peeing, when her kidneys failed it was time. Bea developed dementia, anxiety, and started having seizures. When they don't enjoy life anymore, it's time.

The gas is produced in the stomach, when the animal vomits in their tunnel, the gas kills them, so it's deadly to anything that eats it, or is exposed. If we had remained in the car, room or house if we were unaware- we all would have died.

They were fine after a 24 hour stay in vented isolation with IV's. Diarrhea for a week though. Both are gone now, but lived fairly long lives. Byrdie had kidney and bladder troubles, Bea was nearly 16 when she passed.

I bet! This stuff is so deadly that the e-vet said to get out of the car if the dogs started to throw up. One of them did in the exam room at the vets- we had to take both dogs outside immediately and wait, they had to get hazmat suits to clean the room.

I'm sorry for your loss. My wife lost both of her parents in 21-22 and it's not easy. I feel so lucky that mine are still doing quite well for my mom being 77 and my dad being 74.

I love that on my weekly call with my parents my dad said he didn't want to talk about tfg because it makes his blood pressure go off the charts. Boomers are not a monolith and many of them are just as upset about what's happening as everyone else.
