For nearly a year, we have observed individuals chasing after the next Twitter high. Initially, Mastodon seemed to be the promising choice. However, the initial excitement quickly faded. Then came Post News, which garnered significant attention from journalists who claimed it would be hard to beat.

Then we introduced Spoutible. Unlike its predecessors, Spoutible never experienced a surge of hype or lofty expectations as the ultimate Twitter replacement. Nevertheless, we had a dedicated group of supporters, and our user base grew organically. We had periodic surges, but never succumbed to hype.

The arrival of Bluesky sparked an overwhelming response, with notable figures like AOC and Stephen King joining. Due to the immense hype, many believed Bluesky could challenge Twitter's dominance. However, similar to the previous hyped apps, Bluesky eventually blended in as just another alternative.

Now, Threads has emerged as the new Twitter killer. Spoiler alert; it's not. Threads is merely an extension of Instagram, and the current wave of hype mirrors what we've witnessed for almost a year. Once the novelty wears off, one quickly realizes that Threads is merely an Instagram extension.

So, what is my point? The next Twitter will not emerge through hype. We often forget why Twitter became Twitter in the first place. For any platform to endure, it must first establish a foundation of devoted users and grow organically. The platform's culture ultimately determines its destiny.

I genuinely appreciate that Spoutible was never swept up in the hype train because fads tend to die quickly. Without believers in your vision, persuading others to embrace it becomes challenging. Spoutible's core users believe in our mission to create a social media environment free from toxicity.

I've tried almost every app out there. So far, Spoutible is the best and easiest to use. I fell off Mastodon, Counter, and Tribel. I still have post, but don't use it. Joined Threads, to see what it's about. So far, Spoutible is my favorite.

The main reason I think Threads stands a better chance than BlueSky is the instant accessibility. The FOMO hype faded quickly once everyone realized they wouldn't be able to join BS anytime soon and now Threads stole their thunder. Even if it only fractures Twitter, it may actually kill BlueSky.

An Instagram extention of FB, and let's not forget, FB's massive hack of 500,000 accounts in April 2021 lost a lot of the data that was expensive to provide server power for.

Zuck allowed years of people's videos and memories
to simply disappear.
Mismanagement? Hacks? Who knows.

After looking through Threads for a little while, it’s a bad place. No transparency on the algorithm. No control over your own news feed. And there is no place to view just the people you follow.

I give it a couple days before misinformation, and reports of abuse are widespread.

My guess is they want people to join before they start to add in features. If you sign up and you don't know anyone else, things get boring real quick.

Also Zuck is a massive dick.

It's just the enormity of Musk's dickness that makes him look preferable

Threads is being blocked here in Europe by Meta, because they don't feel like complying with the European Data Protection Law.

They just lost bigly and will have to pay a huge fine eventually.

So for us it'll be — remain on 🐦, or move to 🐋 or 🦣.
