Agree, tho I would suggest some need to exercise a little thread disciple. 70 spout threads are way to long. LOL!

Considering that we can create hugely long threads automatically with one click, I don't see the upside. Once you learn to thread, it makes it easier to follow in bite-sized paragraphs & you can add an image or GIF to punch it up.

Given that only the first spout shows up on the timeline what’s the need for restraint?

Well, you've got a point if you don't care whether everyone reads your entire thread. But, if you do care, then ppl should try to be more concise. The reason for a thread is you have more to say than a few spouts, but eventually ppl will abandon the thread if it's way too long.

Not if it's a good thread.
And if it isn't, it should be abandoned even if it's only 10 spouts long.

This is not actually an argument against exercising thread discipline. Yes, long threads can be good. I've read some of them. Discipline simply means thinking abt what you're saying and how many tweets you need to say it in.

That may be. I was commenting only on your assertion that eventually people will abandon the thread if it's too long.
Length has much less to do with abandonment than quality does. That's all I meant.
But yes, restraint often figures into quality, so...
