If her supposed “Romance” contains descriptions that people on here would find really offensive then that’s not really romance, that’s porn.

Honestly don't get why some adults seem to believe that 'adult content' has to be about explicit sex acts/pictures &/words. IMHO adult 'content' also incorporates knowing when, where and how to best interact with your neighbourhood/audience.

I've seen worse. I've seen a surprising number of people bragging about having "incognito" or "alternate" accounts here on Spoutible, playing double agent, chatting with the worst four. I've even seen others hoping for "Bouzy's ruin". This can't come as a surprise, but it is very disappointing.

You’re damaging your brand. You were foolish yesterday, and articulate passionate people spoke up. Then it felt like there was a switch to over-reaction and potential retribution. Now to say it’s coordinated seems to be escalating this and creating victims and villains. Why not simply listen?

It is coordinated. The big thread being passed around Twitter today is from the husband of this person, who has been problematic for a while.

I'd no idea that there were soooo many romance authors discussing their work. In fact, I joined the bird site back in 2008, can't think of a single thread on the topic. Fabricated outrage from silly people. Exhausting.

I have followed romance authors on the bird app for years and have only seen them promote new books. No videos. Sometimes an excerpt or cover photo, but not always, and most of them rarely post at all. I don’t get it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That said, I do think the band The Kinks should be able to post videos.

This is all remarkably similar to the behavior of a White woman who calls herself an ally and does not like the fact that a Black man is not attending to her needs promptly and who further speaks in a tone she finds inappropriate, to wit, not humble nor grateful enough.

Probably coincidence tho

The outrage is imagined.

People *already* have options for posting content that's not allowed on Spoutible.

If you feel the need to post stuff that the TOS don't allow--TOS *that you willingly signed up to follow--then you have still have options available.

Go follow your thirst elsewhere.

What is SO funny is that, as a long time romance reader, I can attest to the fact that the industry has made a concerted effort to get rid of rape as evidence of romance, giving the heroines agency of their own, and actually writing about Black characters.

To all of those worrying about writers being censored..
I read quite a bit. "Adult" romance included.
If it's well written, there is much that can be discussed about the work, without violating these policies.
If you can only convey the pornographic aspects?
Write better plots.
Get real.

THIS. When I'm talking to someone about a book that I enjoyed, I'm not talking to them about the sex scenes. And honestly I can't recall seeing that much conversation about the sex scenes on any of the other socials. The most I would see would be someone saying what the "spice level" is, no details.

If this behavior by romance writers continues, it might give well-meaning romantic authors a bad name.

As an aspiring thriller novelist, I would hate it if a band of thriller writers accuse Spoutible of censoring them because of allegedly vague TOS about violent content.

I feel certain they are testing other boundaries as well. Social engineering is sleight of hand and misdirection. Pattern match the traffic timing and phrasing. it's a job and the methods are provided by the employer and used by many shift after shift.
