I see sentiments like this a lot & I get it. But folks are asking for the impossible.

Bottom line— what was special about Twitter is over & never coming back.

People are going to have to accept that & stop trying to bring the dead back to life.

Christopher,

🧵Without news outlets and academics, there’s little reason for Twitter’s base to be here. Which is why they aren’t. Same is true for smaller groups like various ethnic Twitters, tech Twitters, etc. If interesting leaders don’t migrate here, the followers won’t, either.…1/

The “hot takes from journalists” experience was def cool, but substacks & subscriptions are actually how you support news— letting SM be the gatekeeper only fattens the bottom line of a parasitic collection of comic book villains who are feeding off of the news AND us while our democracy teeters.

@cbouzy is always saying this & maybe people will listen, maybe they’ll keep chasing what’s irrevocably over, but for the folks in back: We’re building something new at @Spoutible . It might look vaguely X-like, but the feel is completely different.

I don’t know about you but I like not standing in a firehose of hate just to see what Steve Schmidt or Joy Reid had to say today. I like it just fine.

True. Spoutible has 15 years to go to be as mature as twitter was. But it is growing way faster - I think it will take less than 5 to be where Twitter was from user base and content . And that’s fine with me. I’m enjoying the assh*le free world.

on the Hidden Brain, it was mentioned that North Americans don't expect change. the speaker said if it rains for 4 days N. Americans expected it to rain the 5th day whereas Japanese people expected it to be sunny. there were other examples, the conclusion was Americans are ill-equipped for change.

Agreed it’s over. What we are building here 🐳 is different. We have 🐳, it’s serious, fun, cool, quirky and we hold each other accountable ( not in a mean way unless challenged)🩵🐳.

I know what you mean. But sometimes I backslide. 🙃

I got so vexed at this woman yesterday I actually cussed.

And it just didn’t feel right.

About an hour later I went back, deleted the spout & instantly felt better.

This isn’t X—it’s Spoutible—and I’m done trolling trolls.

I think “just chill and let things unfold.” Anything you miss from Twitter can be found somewhere else.
