It was even more difficult for those of us, back in the day ('50's-60's), when there was no ADD/ADHD diagnosis.
As students, we were seen as obstreperous. Punishment was all they had.
The best part was, when older, I was able to identify my deficits and then change to make them work for me.

Ugh. I'm so sorry, and I'm glad things could be figured out. I'm in the same ocean until I can get an official diagnosis (for accommodations purposes).

Sites like ADDitude have been a great help...

Shop carefully for who will diagnose you. Many psychologists have predetermined definitions of ADD regardless of what their professional standards say. Keeping you in my thoughts and well wishes.
