That’s an interesting distinction… #foodforthought
I was definitely ashamed of the general reputation Australians had in the 60s,
and we often chose to ID as Canadians, especially when looking for rent in Vancouver/ travelling in Europe.

A couple of years in therapy gave me a toolkit for distinguishing my own personal responsibility from that of others. I gave up the Rescuer role (in the TA Victim/Rescuer/Persecutor triangle) long ago. It's my job to continue to live mindfully, and I do. So I carry no shame about others' behavior.
