I think we don’t talk enough about men’s daddy issues. So many republican men absolutely loathe kind white men -Jimmy Carter & Joe Biden types, but prostrate themselves to men like Trump, Reagan, Bernie, Elon, etc, men who are terrible humans, fathers, leaders.

These men are heavily republican but of course not exclusively. And certainly not exclusively white men. With white men having the most power though their daddy issues cause all of us harm.

Seeing Trump call for the execution of General Miley and republicans in office and out-agreeing with him should be shocking in the self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Democracy” but it wasn’t and isn’t.

A democracy with a free press as enshrined in its constitution as a way to ensure truth to power is as important as exposing the harm from the powerful .. just sits back and blows bubbles while authoritarian forces move with alarming speed.

But we know the free press is also owned & managed by white men -the same men who have daddy issues and who, as stated at the start of this thread, prostrate themselves to Trump and other horrible examples of what a man, father, & leader should be.

So we are in effect trapped between terrible men with daddy issues and a terrible press with daddy issues in a type of twisted symbiotic death spiral that threatens to take down our democracy.

Americans complacent about authoritarian actions don’t see the danger in a civilian leader /former president calling for the execution of a Military Leader. Folk here who survived military vs politicians coups and wars know exactly how dangerous such rhetoric is.

We’ve always prided ourselves on our press to call attention and shout the truth about the dangers of dangerous rhetoric but the founders never foresaw the counter-power of capitalism and foreign ownership of mass media by folk who would love to destroy the nation

.. and those men also have daddy issues, of course. What we’re left with is the majority party having the most interest in preserving this democracy and that seems to be a position of power.

But that power is only useful at the ballot box. And we’ve got folk waffling on that

I guess we end where we started. Regardless of their daddy issues we’ve got to vote in overwhelming numbers so we can survive as a nation or else their daddy issues will destroy all that we’ve built. End.

they mistake who the warrior leaders really are. They like the "loud, beating on their chests" brain dead ones who look good but can't string 2 sentences together without going to their lifelines for help.

I have one question, though. Is it daddy issues or daddy complex? I see the first as needing to have a daddy telling them what to do, and the second as someone who needs to be the daddy telling everyone else what do to.
