We have already seen an increase in people actually reading the threads. The whole point of adding this feature was to encourage people to interact more with threads. As soon as someone sees 1/40, they tend to continue scrolling. In just 24 hours, we have seen that behavior change.

Heard about the feature, was skeptical thinking it would be obtrusive as a reader. Tried it and seriously it was fine. The people I follow write threads worth reading so I'm not going to let an AI summary change that. Not like "thank you robot, fuck you prolific poster"

I post a lot about LongCovid and MECFS and medical stuff. Some of my threads could be a bit too much for some from patient group (many have brain fog and other issues) and getting a simple summary would actually be welcome to them.

I love the feature!

I don't understand all this fear ultimately it's just a summary to give idea so if you're interested read whole thread. But we also need thinking AI now exists! So instead of leaving it only in hands of those who will make nefarious use of it, it is better to start understanding how to use it well.

I commented on this previously several days ago. I still think you should give the author of the thread the ability to turn off a summary of their thread.

I would guess that this change of behaviour happened primarily due to an interest in comparing the original thread to the summary (or vice versa), and will vane again as soon as the novelty fades away.

I truly don't understand the strong reaction against it. You are not eliminating the thread. The summary just provides context plus it's optional whether or not you decide to read it. To me it's no different than reading a book summary. If I'm not familiar with the author I want to learn more.

This is why my answer is that I never know what is happening behind the scenes to understand the decision. I trust you are making good ones though because it keeps improving. For whatever that’s worth
