I vastly prefer non-fiction, but some works of non-fiction can grab my attention - well-written bio & autobiographies (even ghostwritten); true crime; and historical accounts. I'm currently reading "To Hell And Back: The Last Train From Hiroshima," and it's mesmerizing. At the same time, I'm also

I like both! Fiction is wonderful and I love exploring fantasy worlds and #kidlit , but some non-fiction is absolutely fascinating (especially when they are well-written.)

Most of my reading centers fiction. However, I find myself reading more memoirs for fun and modern history for various projects and/or work.

Mostly fiction. Non-fiction mostly for work. But once in a while I read non-fiction. Just picked up a copy of Heather Cox Richardson’s Democracy Awakening.

When nonfiction is done well, it feels like a story. I recommend almost anything by Geraldine Brooks, Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard, and Being Mortal by Atul Gawande for those thinking of dipping their toes into the NF side.

I try to alternate. I am finishing a collection of Black Brit Speculative Fiction then may return to Tomb of Sand a work of fiction or Creep which are essays by Myriam Gurba. I'll need to look into purchasing another history book soon as well.

I prefer fiction for the most part, but specifically SciFi with correct science. Non-fiction books like 'The Hot Zone' and 'American Prometheus' are great too. I have a strong preference for hard SciFi much of the time. You have to mix it up though, never the same type of books consecutively.

I used to own a bookstore, so I'm agnostic on that... but I *am* a total sucker for sci-fi or fantasy with funny, sharp witted, banter-y dialogue between well fleshed out characters. Like the Gentleman Bastards series.

Over the past several years I’ve been reading more nonfiction. Probably due to politics and listening to podcasts, also because I find it harder to concentrate on fiction. I also now read more than one book at a time.

Definitely fiction for me, although there are some authors who can make nonfiction just as engaging for me as a good novel. Mary Roach and Sarah Vowell, to name two.

Morning read: News from many sources

Treadmill read: business books/other non-fiction on iPad while listening to ski playlists and watching news (yeah, did I mention treadmill?)

Bedtime read: Fiction to make my brain shut off - - cleaning up a backlog of Scandinavian and Scottish authors.
