List are to create a more curated timeline inside your already curated timeline.

Say one day, you only wanted to see recipes. You could make a list of people you follow that post recipes and select it to see them altogether on your timeline without anything else.

Also (unless I’m doing it wrong - 100% possible) it’s lists of people and not just the topic. So if I create a Cheese list and person spouts about cheese and cars, the Cheese timeline will contain spouts about cars too
