A reminder that South Carolina actually had a law on the books that made it ILLEGAL for Black women to be stay at home mothers.

It would be interesting to know how and when this law was overturned. And to make darn sure it isn't hiding on the books in some village, township or another.

This despicable. So much of white American history is horrific it's no surprise that they want to pretend it never happened. This country will never heal without the TRUTH part of truth and reconciliation.

These states are known as right to work states. We need to change that.

This is horrific. White people couldn't get help, oh dear, pass a law. Do we know the date of this report? I did my own homework. 1918.

I've read that before, and it's no less vile the second time around. The entitlement is breathtaking, and the racism, nauseating.

I'd say that it was unbelievable, but we all know it's all too believable. So, so bad.

Those poor rich white women who couldn't get cooks and laundresses to do their work for them. Oh the misery they must have gone through.

I would ask if they looked for white women who needed work, but I guess you would have to treat them fairly, pay them a decent wage, let them go home to their family at a reasonable hour... 🙄😒
