I am sincerely astonished by how toxic Twitter is now. I spent over six years researching misinformation and targeted harassment on Twitter, and it doesn't come close to what is happening now.

That's what the right wing wants, discomfort, uncertainty, and disbelief in facts and in turn abusive behavior towards people who are telling the truth.

I wish Europe and America would investigate and prosecute Twitter for taking money from users and then using their platform for slander, malicious propaganda, character assassination, conspiracy to advance false info to the public, and fomenting threats to national security.

The USA needs him to get their spy satellites into orbit. Which is also why they will never do anything about him. His tech is too useful.

Any that doesn’t HAVE to be on Twitter should be deleting it with all deliberate speed. We can’t have it both ways ie be appalled by it AND support it at the same time.

This is why Musk bought it - his intention was to destroy the role Twitter previously played in allowing communication from disaster or war areas as well as the role it played in allowing progressive activists to organize, and replace it with a psy-op by Mike Flynn and other chaos agents.

I deleted my acct there at the end of Feb, after thoroughly enjoying Spoutible.com!
Although in it's infancy I knew THIS is where I belonged.
Do I miss a handful of folks from there? Yes, but not enough to put myself into mental/emotional/toxic danger.
How I love what Spoutible is: safety.

It was hard to close my account a couple months ago. I felt I had so much invested in building followers and there were so many accounts I enjoyed. But once I pulled the plug, I found I haven’t missed it at all.

It’s horrible! Full of porn! I wonder abt human trafficking there.

I keep my account for only one reason - Missouri State legislature Dem community. I wish we could convince the Party to move elsewhere. I’m in a “private” group - a group that helps track & submit testimony on bills.

The funniest part is I see the ads get the community notes the most for being scams warning you not to buy 🤣

I still look at it. There’s garbage, but I avoid it. I’m surprised I don’t get attacked more since most of my comments are critical to tfg. I spend some time muting & blocking. I never engage w/ hate or maga, so that helps. It’s gone far downhill from what it once was. Many good voices gone.

I usually go on to see what's trending, and usually answer the football & wrestling stuff. I'm trying to stay away from the political stuff. Even the anti-Trump ones. Twitter has become a Qtard dumpster fire.

Right? I drop in now and then.
Last time, a couple accounts I follow, who rescue dogs, coincidentally had posts of their dogs attacking each other. I read it as an analogy of the hellscape xitter has become. 🙀

I check it 1 or 2 times a day when I get notice that people I know IRL have tweeted. After reading notifications, I hit home, scroll once or twice, shake my head & close it.

Twitter/X is a case study in what happens when sites let ultra-right wingers control discourse—specifically the types who want people to be able to freely use bigoted slurs.

That site is a cesspool where bigots' politics, lies, and delusions rise to the top; visiting that site is miserable now.

I continue to check in as a reminder ill will is also part of humanity. And for every keyboard Knights of the Awful, there are those that would leave their homes violently mad and physically dangerous to a civil society – and themselves.
Agree vehemently. It is 'All the Rage.'

I sometimes pop into that toxic wasteland to remind myself how grateful I am to be on Spoutible.
"That" place is not good for your mental health. It's so easy to spiral & think humankind is doomed. I don't want to think that way.
Spoutible is a positive reminder there's plenty of good folk around.

Not surprising. I reported a literal Nazi when he used the N-word - legit, somebody who had H*tler's name and a number-based Nazi dogwhistle in his @ - and they did NOTHING ABOUT IT. That site is a hopeless, dark, and regressive place that is now overrun by bigots and their enablers.

Too true. I still keep my account because a few people post there whom I respect. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Lindy Li, VP Harris, and others. They have accounts here, a lot of them, but don’t post so much here.
So I’m on Spoutible and TwiXter. Biding my thyme, as it were.
