I find the pressure on people to "forgive" their abusers gross.

And it seems it's always about the people abused "getting over it," and never the abusers truly taking steps to attempt to atone without expecting it to be transactional.

I believe it's proper to banish relatives/friends/work associates from your personal life for deliberate cruelty. I understand forgiveness for your own emotional well being; but all I have for the abusers is prayers from a distance.

Even incidental cruelty, I think, especially when repeated and not remedied.

I agree with that, I think no one is required to interact with people who hurt them.
