This interview with Ruby Bridges is a must-watch. I had no idea that after her school was "integrated," she actually spent the whole year alone in a classroom with a white teacher who came in from Boston because there apparently wasn't a single decent white person in her whole town.

My kiddo read about Ruby Bridges in elementary school a few years back. So, I did, too. I didn't know that, either! I think of Ruby's strength--and her parents--and how they paved a path for so many to follow. How scary it must've been! How alone. We should all know her story & every story like it.
