50 Years of #hiphop . Wow. It went from house parties and stuff to being a world wide impact. What a journey. I always say that if you don't Hip Hop history then you don't truly know Hip Hop.

That performance was nice to see.

Hip Hop is Black culture. World culture.

I studied hip hop history to teach a dance appreciation class. Amazing creativity. Wish the dance part of the movement was more universally told.

And the Art. It's an amazing story of doing the absolute most with the absolute least in the face of doubt and derision.

Yes! The combination of graffiti art, music and dance from those early days is really beautiful. And, in the face of derision, as you note. It was really instructive as an old white lady to learn the history of this form I was so unfamiliar with…WOW.

Glad to see that you were open to it. My own, very Black, mother kept a closed mind until I started exposing her to different artists. She loved the music (mostly sampled from club music at the time), but "didn't get it" until she did.

Looking at this movement historically, in a dance appreciation class, did inspire some interesting conversations. I’m in CA so my student population is diverse. Lots of interesting takes.
