Contraception is a human right.

Dear Spoutible Ladies, which contraceptive has the least side effects for you and more convenient?

Come on, Quote Spout, let’s hear about your experience and opinions. Maybe we can learn one or two things.

I have an IUD but not for contraceptive purposes but due to irregular very heavy periods and extreme cramping. Before the IUD, I tried the pill but hated it. The IUD has made my quality of life SO much better.

Sorry, wrong reply. My daughter used to lie on the bathroom floor at school. She got a IUD, but not until she was older.

I was very lucky that birth control pills worked well for me and the only side effects were only positive ones (shorter, lighter periods and zero PMS).

My daughter needed it to control her periods. This anti abortion is out of control and interfering in medical decisions

Condoms and spermicide until hubby got snipped. I didn’t do well on BC pills.

Before I was 18, condoms worked perfectly. About 8 months after I turned 18, the Laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy which removed both my ovaries & fallopian tubes has worked perfectly. (Nearly every woman in my family ends up with this, usually in 40's. (I'm an overachiever.)

I had the same procedure when I was 32. Also used birth control pills and iuds but surgery was the best.

In 2017 after having 2nd and final child I saw writing on the wall and chose to have my fallopian tubes completely removed rather than go back on birth control. Knew it would come to this and didn't want to be put in position of choosing an abortion for an unplanned pregnancy.

A Mirena IUD is great but celibacy is even better. Nothing can top the peace of NOT dealing with men on an intimate level. Nothing. I highly recommend quitting men altogehter. ,💯

Depo-Provera (the shot) was my choice. Needing blood thinners was really a horrifying endeavor duriing menstruation. So I cancelled that.

Ahhh, but we have more to worry about than just getting pregnant (like that's not enough?) - there's also HPV and various other diseases. Condoms are key to more complete protection.

I had my tubes tied after kid 2. But, I went back on the pill too because it was amazing to not have a period.

I had to have a hysterectomy because I had fibroids. That worked pretty well.

I preferred a low-dose BC pill to menopause, but here we are.

Least side effects, most convenient, is my husband's vasectomy, which he got about 20 years ago, about 6 months after we started dating.

Before that, I tried just about everything. None were easy or convenient. Now I'm just old and menopausal so I'm all set.

What I would say to young people. If you're having sex with men, use a condom. Every time. All the time. Just do it. If you want a backup for pregnancy, just use something, anything. There are so many options you can pick up at the pharmacy. Just grab one and try it. But add it to the condom.

Condoms have proven most convenient. For me, at least.
One steady partner and a few menopausal years later, we're good.

I’m way, way past the point of needing them but I hope they are better than what I was given in the 70’s! Worst thing I ever did was take The Pill - ruined my metabolism, made me sick with pregnancy symptoms even though I wasn’t. Couldn’t get pregnant after that.

Well, you were once there, I think. So, what was your experience like? Maybe the younger ladies can pick something from your perspective.
