The report about Biden's memory seems to be a rather large nail in the coffin of his election bid.

It appears that way if yu lety the media gaslight you. I know what my eyes and ears see and hear and it isn't what they're selling. Everything is just fine. Keep calm and vote.

Problem here is that The Guardian isn't a paper which gaslights. To have this reported by one of the world's most trusted news sources is worrying - not for me, but for the wider audience. I really do not understand why the Democrats have allowed this situation to develop - it was inevitable.

What's worrrying is that their reporting is inaccurate.

No-one seems to be questioning the report by the public official Hur. My issue is that this sort of thing was inevitable, so why is the Democratic Party in this mess?

Go watch Biden's speech respondfing to the report. The man is sharp as a tack, snappy, witty, combacks, can track who's speaking, speaks at a good pace, & he shredded Hur and his stupid report with unnecessary commentary. The double standards the media is applying to Biden and the rapist are insane

That's not my issue. What I'm concerned about is why and how Democratic party have failed to address what is a fatal flaw about Biden's age (but was obviously going to happen). For the future of the USA Trump has to lose, but the Democrats aren't helping by having Biden as candidate.

I see this very differently. I see a ton of enthusiasm for Biden. Look at his record, he's broken more records than any presesident, he's ruunning circles around the last 3 GOp presidents combined. I highly recommend checking out the Meidas Touch Network on you tube. great legal/political analysis.

You're not engaging with my concern - which is why we're in this situation where Biden can be attacked. Why are we even in this situation?

I don't know what more you want me to address about it. The right wiing are dirty fuckers and are manipulating the media. Stay calm, get involved and vote. And get everyone you know to vote and to watch these speeches from both of them, not clips from the media watch the whole speeches.

I've no issue with Biden as a person. My problem is why we're in this situation. Why is Democratic party supporting presidential campaign with someone who'll be 86 at the end of the next presidency - utterly insane. Few of us have relatives who live to 86. As a plan to win the election it's mad.

Again I implore you to go look at Biden's record. It runs cirrcles around any other president. He is the most qualified. Stop listening to the bullshit. Yes he's old, he's the most qualified statesman and he is the only one who can take on the rapist fraud maniac. I will not discuss this further.

I realise you're done with this discussion, but you've not understood my point. I believe in Biden, he's absolutely one of the best, period. But trying to win election with him is a huge challenge. He's wide open to media attack despite achievements and record. The voters will believe the bullshit.

Call me pessimistic, but that isn't going to be enough against right wing control of most of the media. In a world of populist politics people will (and want to) believe the lies.

I will. With that fucking defeatist attitude, you've already lost. Good luck with your country, and the rest of us will never forgive the USA if you allow trump back in. It is YOUR responsibilty to be properly informed, and get everyone you know informed and VOTE!

I'm a UK citizen 🙄 born & bred Scot. I was simply trying to get some insight/discussion into why the US has ended up with a real challenge to oust Trump by supporting Biden. That's a very difficult battle which IMHO was unnecessary. Mind you, UK politics is also FUBAR.

I'm fully aware of all the facts 🥱 But you seem to be unaware of the danger of populism. BTW it's not good form to be blatantly rude in your replies. Bye bye.

Many of us are very aware of populism and its dangers. Unfortunately, it’s easy to say “get another candidate” until you put a face to that other candidate & GOP start going after his/her perceived weaknesses. Biden, as current potus, stands best chance, esp w/his accomplishments.

It was chaotic, but in 1968 the Democratic sitting prez LBJ didn't announce he wouldn't run for re-election until Mar 31st, endorsing his vp Humphrey (who did win nom after assassination of RFK). We are early in primaries. Biden can & should drop out.

Thanks. I guess many of us on the outside (UK for me), plus many of my US friends, thought that Kamala Harris was put up as VP to then run for president in 2024.
