These lists are always fodder for arguments, some worth having. I have often started the school year with a discussion of "the canon" and its uses and abuses. I'm wondering what people think not about the selections on/off this list but of the value of a list.

I tend not to read such lists because they tend to remind me of profs who thought all white male reactions were “universal.” In teaching, I just include a variety of authors and POVs as if that's the norm. Personal narratives of George Orwell beside Zora Neale Hurston, for ex, about peer pressure.

No one will agree completely, but I've seen worse lists.

In school, lists can help introduce students to works they wouldn't otherwise find.

As a senior citizen, I like the idea of lists but find the doing part intimidating - but that's just me.
