Why are there so many stories about men whose ideal woman is actually a child who looks like an adult?

(Some) Men like women w/childlike qualities: Being dependent upon a man makes them controllable. Children are inexperienced & have no basis for comparison (so are more likely to put up with unacceptable behavior, poor performance, etc. from that male), etc. Such men want us 'teachable' & powerless.

I've given up on men as a whole. They seem to want me to be less so that they can pretend to be more.

Our society damages them so badly that many of them can't even begin to imagine what a real partnership looks like.

I like my cats and dog better.

You've named some hard truths.
If we were ALL raised to be confident in ourselves, men wouldn't have to pretend to be more, & women wouldn't be pressured to shrink to appease them.
None can fit in a box someone else chooses.
Raising children with strict male/female "roles" makes losers of us all.

I live in Cali, land of the "fruits, nuts, and flakes." Even in the fourth grade, my son still sometimes wears his twin's skirts.

Never, not even once, has he been hassled about that or the pink shoes or the sequins on his shirt.

I want him comfortable being him, whatever his orientation ends up.
