The wash of light in a huge clean room makes everything seem #pale , especially if those things are reflective metal. At right is the spacecraft #EuropaClipper .
When it gets 2 wings of solar arrays, it’ll be the size of a basketball court.
Where’s it going? Jupiter!
When? October! #DailyPictureTheme

Clean rooms are an underappreciated art form and very expensive; not at all trivial to accomplish. We still see failures in them later on in component mortalities.

Yes. I was talking to himself (JPL staff) about what they at the lab do— build, test and deploy one-off equipment that needs to travel far and be remotely operated on/near other planets, moons, comets, asteroids.

And go through rigorous “what if” design processes and contingencies built in.

Love Americans or hate us- when we infected the indigenous we learned from it. Now we are more careful when we go to broaden empire lest we kill off something we likely needed to be alive out there. Curious.
