To all cat lovers here:

My fiancé is getting a rescue cat this weekend and I’m going with her.

Any advice on what to stay away from? I don’t know what breeds are troublesome & which are chill.

I low key don’t trust cats because I was there when they attacked their owners unprovoked.

That’s what I figured.

I’m definitely more of a dog person, but medium to small size only.

The cat will be with her retired siblings. She & I are too busy to properly take care of pets.

You're not asking for much. 😀
Opinion, if the cat is claws out attacking you, this is a mental problem and no amount of love or drugs will fix. Return the cat.
Short hair just means you won't see how much your eating.
Cats are not dogs they prefer to be ignored until they decide. 😁

If you're worried about hair balls, need to go with a short hair vs. medium or long hair.

If you get the opportunity, sit in the corner of the room away from the cat(s) and see if they'll come to you. The ones that jump up in your lap will be easier to handle at home.

If you keep them brushed, fed good food, and get a raised bowl, they are less likely to throw up a lot
