Why take responsibility for your wrongdoing when you can just keep appealing?

If he hangs in there long enough, the way things are going, sexual assault probably won't even be a crime anymore.

A friend's ex is finally being brought to justice, slowly, after so many appeals and administrative snafus over 15 years. Still no real end in sight, and throughout she always had to be her own lead advocate. "Why won't you just go away?" keeps her pushing forward.

I'm so sorry. It shouldn't be this difficult, but the system is not designed to serve women in any capacity, as we can see.

It's definitely another layer of abuse on abuse.

That last part of your spout is the kicker, by design. Especially if something spans multiple jurisdictions. Every entity that's supposed to be on her side is able to kick the can.

A common refrain will be that the states need to add more resources. Quite true. That will take better defined laws and
increased funding, and that will take the voters. Probably one of the many things that would do better with sustained, vocal, in your face, media grabbing protest.
