Oil giant BP - one of six major oil companies - just reported record annual profits of $28 Billion, more than double last year's total, as gas prices soared following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Anyone else as angry about this as I am?

It’s not only greedy, and price gouging, they did it with a political motive in mind. So many voted against Democrats because of the inflated gas prices. THATS part of the reason why Republicans won congressional seats. 🤬 Big business always want Rep in office.

This! ☝🏼 They manipulate the market in order to control the political narrative. By raising fuel prices, the cost of everything else went up, exasperating inflation and giving R's something to use against Ds. That more people don’t recognize this just bogs my mind.

it's so infuriating. Stock buybacks and record profits - and to listen to investor calls they are transparent about what they're doing. They're price gouging and they know it.

They will say it’s just the free market. But the problem with that is corporations have used their size and political clout to push out any real competition. We don’t actually have free market capitalism in the US, but a form of corporate socialism.

And why are we still giving these companies federal subsidies! There is no reason for it in my opinion. They could be using those high profits to lower the price of gas, oil and natural gas. We are being ripped off

As a native of Louisiana this is particularly infuriating. Our state is still paying the price for their spill. The Gulf and wetlands will never be the same.

Same with major food chains, egg producers, car manufacturers—the list goes on. But, it’s Biden’s fault 🙄

Oil giants raking in record profits, price gouging the public, while blaming inflation. And the Maga hoard blaming Biden for the unrestrained greed of the GOP corporate megadonors. It's unbelievable how these people continuously vote against their own interests just to "own the libs"
