All those people flocking over to Bluesky should read this.

This is exactly why I came here from Post vs anywhere else, and definitely not Bluesky. Dorsey told folks to leave Bluesky because it's becoming too much like twitter. He said folks should go to X because Musk has a "free speech" mission. 🥴

So he really is an utter fool.
So sick and tired of these tech “libertarians”.

Wow. Jack is really clueless about how social media works socially, how it can be corrupted and how unexamined power structures can derail the whole thing

I’m sorry, but IMO dude gives off creepy pervy Nathan Bateman (Ex Machina) vibes 😬.

Weird how, in one breath he’s saying “the people should decide what it will be,” and in the next breath he’s complaining about the people telling the admins what they want it be (moderated, not filled with hate speech, etc).
I guess the majority of users just aren’t the people he had in mind.

I think a lot of people live lives where they have decided harm isn't harm. This interview doesn't touch on January 6, bullying, harassment, Nazis, impersonation.

"But little by little, they started asking Jay and the team for moderation tools, and to kick people off."

I agree with his take that VCs and a board are a true detriment to a successful social media platform. But does he really believe you can build such a platform without moderation at all?

This seems to be rooted in an obsession with libertarian utopia?

Interesting article. Seems like several of the issues he identified as problems at Twitter you have addressed in the Spoutible project, Mr. Bouzy.

They can end their "version" of social media.

Spoutible is here to stay with the proper version of a Social Media platform...a platform of truth, laughter, and sharing of ideas - worldwide.

I checked out BlueSky after leaving Post. The place is like a bridge for trolls to hang out under. Really a nasty place. Of course there are good people too, but they tend to get drowned out.

Are there still people flocking to Bluesky? I used to see a lot of invite codes dropped into comments on Defector, from people trying to do other people a favor. I don't see them anymore. (A lot of the Defector crowd would fit in nicely here, btw.)
