It is so important to maintain friendships. I truly blessed to have the different friend groups in my life. We work to maintain the friendships by celebrating our birthdays, traveling together. These are several different groups, I see each group at least once a year. We have group chats 🥰

It's so hard to do ... good intentions & all, but parent life seems to swallow us whole.
The value of The Village should never be understated. Doing it alone is really hard.

I’ve met some of my best friends as we did parenting stuff together, however, I’ve experienced what happens when your world becomes too small and centred - it’s important to build all different relationships.

I'm always glad my mom was honest with me about her regrets from having me when she did. A baby during grad school definitely derailed some plans. She made it clear she was fine with what did happen but gave me the example of not getting what you wanted but still coming out OK

I can understand that and I imagine it happens to tons of people. I love & support that my friends started families, but I also grieved a little bit because I knew I wouldn't have them in my life much, if at all. I have a lot of friends that I keep up with but haven't seen since they became parents.

Same with me. Happy for them, but the relationship is forever changed and they basically become unavailable. I understand- but It’s definitely a loss.
