Does anyone else notice that #Spoutible on desktop only works for so long, and then you need to close the tab and open a new one, at which point it will suddenly work again?

Yes. I leave my computer up & never close the browser (Firefox). I have to manually kill the tab, as it tends to grab 10-20% of the processor if left open on the Spoutible site for more than a few hours. I don't have a low-end machine, either (AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, base clock 3.7 GHz, 32 GB RAM).

I'm on Firefox, too, and definitely also not a low-end machine (brand new Macbook Pro 16, M1Pro, 32 GB RAM). I wonder if Firefox has something to do with it, since it seems to be the neglected browser these days?

If you run into problems on Spoutible, clear your cache and start fresh. 🙂

Why would I clear the entire cache when closing the tab and opening a new one is sufficient? That's impractical considering how often this is a problem.

I've seen this behaviour on my Chromebook, a quite low-memory machine. It also happened on other sites (including Tw*tter), though, so it may be an issue with the browser? 🤷 No problems on my main workhorse PC.

Some people report Spoutible perf. improvements after clearing the browser cache.

I'm not going to clear the cache for the entire browser if closing a tab and opening a new one is enough to resolve the issue. I'm having the problem on a high-powered MacBook Pro, so I don't think memory is the issue, either.

Also, I don't have this problem on the Bird Site, Mastodon, or anything else. It's just Spoutible.
