We have lots of Downy woodpeckers, but the Red Bellied woodpeckers are cool to see.

I have no idea why they're called Red Bellied when it's their head that's red.

We also get (in the Raleigh area) red-bellied woodpeckers (which are redheaded).

Look carefully at the bellies of the Red-Bellied Woodpecker. While not as brilliant as the red on their heads, they have a soft red patch in their bellies.
