We need to change the way we landscape. Our insects are disappearing, and that spells disaster. If you want to know more, here's a lecture that makes it all very clear: https://www.nwf.org/Garden...

I so used to look forward to the Monarch butterfly migration in fall and all of the milkweed plants, when I was little.

I love this, thank you for sharing. If you look at my banner pic, you can see how messy I keep things for all the living beings in my backyard. I spend a lot of time out there ♥️

So many great tips in this video. Simple things. I had no idea caterpillars were so important. They are indeed a keystone species.

1. Reduce the size of your lawn. 2. No spot is too small to plant a keystone plant. 3. Turn off outside lights, put on a motion detector & use a yellow led bulb. 4. Get rid of concrete where possible 5. put in a water feature or bubbler if possible 6. plant some keystone plants under the trees

We need more caterpillars, and they like specific plants. Plant an oak tree! Native gardens & landscapes are easier to maintain (you don't have to do much of anything!). Here are some options: https://www.nwf.org/Garden...
