I'm not sure I want to stay. Spoutible touted itself as a true twitter replacement, a place we could all be safer.

Then it appears to have left sex workers, kinksters, and other groups at specific risk of harassment & abuse online, to fend for themselves on twitter.

Disappointingly judgemental!

Worse still, the promise to build accessibility in from the beginning? Looking around here, I don't see it. Many of the absolute basics are missing. You start as you mean to go on, and the priorities are, well, not *my* communities.

This site is barely useable for me/other disabled friends rn.

What disability is making it difficult for you and your friends to be here if you don't mind me asking.

As a user of screen readers, the site is barely usable, it does not meet Web accessibility standards. I understand the site is in its infancy, but accessibility specialists will tell you accessibility is much harder to add at the end, it needs to be built in from start, it hasn’t that’s concerning

I will add that my own ability to use the site is enhanced by having some usable vision, not everyone does, and having none would make this a significantly more difficult experience.

Please give it time? It’s only been live less than two weeks. I think some folks expect too much of something that’s really in the infant stages

Accessibility is always left to be a "give it time" issue & we're told to like it or lump it. In the current climate where disabled ppl face hellish abuse just for existing & trying to protect ourselves in a pandemic, I think the least we can hope for is to be able to basically access a new SM site.

Basic functionality is still VERY much an issue at the moment. I've lost count of the number of glitches I've run into in the first week. But it's a work in progress, one that is improving daily. The features you're looking for seem likely to be here soon enough.

I hear you and I'm sure you're right. But it also isn't the point. Having these things in place so that access is there for disabled people too at launch time? That would have said A Lot to our community.

Instead it told us we're an afterthought. Something to fix later. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This has been the most frustrating to me. I understand it's being built on a budget quickly but a lot of essentials for accessibility have been overlooked. They do seem to be listening and working on fixes for some of it though, and until then using phone access features for magnifying.

When they asked us what we wanted from the platform one of the few things I asked for was they they focus on accessibility PRE release because it always creates a better site for everyone. Sigh.

I'm sorry its just not accessible for you! 🧡
