I'm not sure I want to stay. Spoutible touted itself as a true twitter replacement, a place we could all be safer.

Then it appears to have left sex workers, kinksters, and other groups at specific risk of harassment & abuse online, to fend for themselves on twitter.

Disappointingly judgemental!

Same. I'm not on the mushroom app because they instituted a hard NSFW ban. I'll leave this place if this one holds, too. Part of being an adult on the internet is accepting that sometimes you're gonna be exposed to content you don't like and handling that like an adult, not banning everything.

I'm fine with all those folks posting here, but I think what people don't want is porn in their feed.

There are plenty of ways to deal with that without banning all NSFW content. NSFW filters, Block Buttons, NSFW 'Opt-in'/'Opt-Out' buttons. . .

Also consider that SHARING the open internet with other people means sometimes being exposed to content you didn't ask for and handling it like an adult.

The exact reason I finally took twitter/X off my electronics. Every other post was porn.

Spoutable should be open for sex-workers too, but I prefer Spoutable staying non-pornographic. I've never used these services, but years ago I've built a small website for an LGBT sex-worker and i know there is a classy and non-pornographic way to do this.

Thanks for Spouting this - I hadn't thought of this til you wrote. If we want to help people pull away from Musk's unsafe orbit sex workers, kink groups etc should be included. For now, Spoutible could do with a clear single account where you could drop this concern & weaknesses re accessibility.

Yeah someone specific being responsible for accessibility here would be brilliant.

This is a valid concern, but where in the TOS are you seeing that 'adult content' is not allowed?

Some random dude on this site straight up told me that I had to delete THIS, my work, my art...because in his words "It objectifies women & doesn't belong here!"

I fixed the issue for him. I blocked him. Problem solved.

There's no nudity. I say if THIS offends you, you're looking to be offende

You did the right thing and blocked him. This is hardly against TOS here. Some people are in the pearl clutching club of holier than though. The full morality police. I don’t want porn in my feed. I don’t want to see people soliciting each other here. But this is ridiculous. Not to your taste? Block

Thanks for drawing attention to this. SWs deserve safe social networks too. There has to be a better way to manage this than a blanket ban on "adult content", whatever that means.

There really is. Mastodon seems to be finding ways and I see no reason they can't be implemented here.

I’m inclined to believe that ‘adult content’ is specifically interpreted as ‘commercial pornography’, for example, people posting photos or videos of sexual activity with a link to their paid content, such as an ‘onlyfans’ site.

This isn't a passive anything. It's a very vocal and open calling out of something I see as wrong and which I am angry about.

At some point, he conducted surveys & adult content was mentioned & the results showed most people would rather not see it.

I'm sorry your experience here is not what you expected, although I don't fully understand your complaints. The site is new and still evolving. It's format is user-driven. If you would prefer a site where you can post "pprn," try Tribel. I hope you find your comfortable space.

User driven but we weren't asked about this in questionnaires etc. It was just added to TOS.

Honestly most of the users I see here rn are incredibly political left wing Americans. If that's all you want it to be, then I guess that's what you'll end up with. But it'll be so bubbled! 🤷🏻‍♀️

There are specific rules against posting "porn". There is no clarification of what that means. Nor I am certain what the rules will specifically end up stating once they are fully amended.

That means sex workers literally cannot earn a living here, on a safe platform where they can be protected.

To your knowledge, has any sex workers, kinksters and the rest tried coming here and been rejected? If so, why?

That said, it's more than obvious that the dead bird app is no longer safe for ANYONE who isn't a creep. The latter needs to GTFO...their mental health will thank them.

Worse still, the promise to build accessibility in from the beginning? Looking around here, I don't see it. Many of the absolute basics are missing. You start as you mean to go on, and the priorities are, well, not *my* communities.

This site is barely useable for me/other disabled friends rn.
