I'm a product of public schools from the 1970s and 1980s. I was taught to reason, to problem solve, to think critically. High school was not college-lite; it was about expanding the breadth of our knowledge. I owe everything to a quality public school education. Everyone should have one.

If you 'accidentally' use a slur, on air or otherwise, it means you use it in general and check yourself in certain situations that the general public disagrees with. Saying you slipped or you were drunk, whatever, is no excuse. Dropping my filters doesn't make me racist.

It's imperative we keep Spoutible toxic-free, and I am going to need your help to accomplish that. The past few days have made me realize just how many people want this community to fail. We have to show the world a social media platform can be successful without the toxicity we are fleeing.

Don't be bummed; there isn't a mass migration "yet" because it's still a closed invite-only beta. Spoutible has more users than Bluesky. Much of the hype is centered around people asking for invites and journalists writing about it.
