I know that story very well.

I had just moved back to DC from Philly in '83. My ex-wife's family was living in that neighborhood at the time, and we were married in Philly later that year. Local media carried that story extensively.

It was a travesty of justice, and remains a blight on the city.

Exactly right. I've got a 2009 Macbook that runs just fine. But I only use it for web browsing and watching movies.

It all depends on what you plan to use it for.

I just read the article. It's a good trip down memory lane, with actual Twitter screenshots to crystallize those memories.

Them's were the days.

Definitely lucky - I was born with certain gifts. But I really give all the credit to my mother. She always told me that I could do and be whatever/whoever I wanted. Raised in that environment of constant praise and encouragement gave me enormous confidence. And that's the key - belief in oneself.

My nephew works for Boeing in Seattle as a project manager on the Dreamliner (787) team. He's a good kid, and I do worry about his safety. His mom (my sister) talks to him daily and swears he's ok. I have to take her word for it.

Resign?

C'mon. She's doing exactly what they sent her to Congress to do - create chaos and "own the libs". She's proud of what she's doing, and the people who elected her are cheering her on.

These unwashed heathens are the biggest threat to democracy that we have.

I hope so.

This was a military member with an important job, so maybe DOD applies some leverage.

But I'm not optimistic. These assholes have been getting away with this shit for so long it is sickening. They are more than willing to pay a huge fine and hope the thing blows over - as usual.

They already have immunity, "qualified immunity" as per SCOTUS years ago. That's why they murder us with impunity. They know there will be no consequences.

I am beyond rage at this point.

Most people seem to be surprised by this. I am not. I have said, on many occasions, that the oligarchs have been planning this coup for 50 years, and are now in the execution phase.

All the pieces are in place and they are rounding the home stretch, racing to the finish line.

They will not quit.

Our institutions are so broken, I don't know where to begin in order to fully describe all the corruption and hypocrisy that exists. I'm getting tired, really tired, of watching this same story unfold - over and over again. I keep hoping that we will learn from the past, but myopia seems to reign.

It's always about religion - always. Throughout recorded history religion has been used to further the goals and ambitions of man. Hard to count the number of wars and hundreds of millions of lives lost due to religious beliefs. We know this, yet thousands of years later we wash, rinse, and repeat.

It's painful.

I went to college in the 60's, participated in the "revolution" and was proud of what we had accomplished.

But being the naive, idealistic 25 year old that I was, I thought we'd won, not realizing that we had won some battles, but not the war.

When will we ever learn?

I've been shooting 35mm pics since 1974 and have thousands of images from all over the country and half way around the world. One day, maybe, I'll share some of the amazing shots I've captured.

I don't know - gotta get in the mood ...

Why am I not surprised?

It seems that the world's worst despots all seem to take their inspiration from some of the darkest moments in America's history.

Hitler, for example, famously adopted tactics from America's racist past in his campaign to solve the "Jewish problem".

I really believe that things are starting to change - for the better. Folks are paying attention to the threats to our way of life, organizing, and gearing up for the fight to vote the bastards out of power. With enough buy-in and commitment, we will overwhelm all their money and voter suppression.

I know.

I used to be that way - and still am depending on how important the issue is to me. SCOTUS, for example, gets me boiling mad because it directly affects me/us.

In 1948 the West decided to trample Palestine and dehumanize its residents. Much bigger problem and mindset for me to address.

Yeah, pretty sad I must say.

You can always tell when someone acts with impunity and believes there will be no consequences for their actions - no matter how horrific they are.

Yeah I saw your post, and cannot disagree with you.

But there's political triangulation at work here. The administration is sticking by Israel because it's what they ALL do. Takes a lot of political courage to swim against that tide.

I made similar remarks months ago and they didn't land well.

It's much worse than that. They infiltrated every civil rights organization. They had people close to MLK, in the Panthers, and the Muslims.

I can't prove it, but you I'm convinced that they orchestrated the assassinations of Malcom X and MLK.

The FBI holds a very "special" place in my heart.
