I didn’t “hear” the song, only felt her voice move through me as if my chest was nothing more than a window screen. The lyrics weren’t for me to keep; they were for everyone. But they were mine to feel and know and remember. 3/4

Out either side of the black canopy, I could see the deep blue sky and cotton ball clouds. The breeze, though, carried the soft, warm tones of her words above and across the crowd and directly into my chest. 2/4

Gen. Davis lived in D.C., so we spoke by phone. The others I met in the home of Vesta Pruitt, the sister of the 99th's ace pilot, Wendell. Ms. Pruitt had just unveiled a beautiful mural honoring black aviators at Lambert Int'l in St. Louis. She served tea, not beer, though. 😉

Leaving my profile intact so no one takes my user name I've used since 1998 (and on Tw since '07). What did you end up doing?

I was leaning a different way last fall and met some new, interesting people over there. In the end, though, this will be home. Plus, I'll be a lot more active once Chris drops the mobile app!

Glad you and so many others landed here.

Ding ding ding! Yes. Also, apparently, "Flying Saucers" and a few other names, I'm sure. Thanks

YES! Omg, I can't believe I thought their name was somehow processed through an MIT brain trust to be more complex than what I opened with. LOL

That is them. Thanks!

No. These were rounded, like a saucer. You could pinch dents in them with your thumb and finger. And they rattled if you shook them, thanks to the beads inside.

I'm aware. Just a bit of gallows humor to get through the hellscape that reigns throughout what feels like half of our state legislatures in the last week.

Agreed. I have thoughts about NY last cycle that I prefer to express only in my primal scream room. That still confounds me.

Thank you. I'm happy to check out your resource. Someone else did recommend I just donate it to a museum, and I have an "in" at the Nat'l WWI Museum in Kansas City. I'm leaning toward doing that and leaving it to them to make contact.

Connecting with them online would mean giving them access to my social profiles which I don't really wish to do.

How exactly would you suggest someone approach you in a non-spammy, non-creepy way if a stranger found something that belonged to you? 4/4

… have tracked down the direct grand and great grandkids in TX and NY. Several likely current phone numbers popped up. None of them are particularly active online. Because we're strangers I can't just private/direct message them. In a twist, they appear to be tfg supporters. 3/4

Somewhere along the way, before the internet, I decided I should probably try to track down the family ... that they might like to have it. Over several decades it remained tucked away. I found it again and, thanks to the web, … 2/4

I know you're right. Just wishful thinking. Though, the scenario I described could apply to future indictments. Fingers crossed!

That makes sense. This instance is something I witnessed as a naive kid. It didn't happen to me. I didn't quite grasp what was happening in the moment, but in hindsight ... with all I've learned since ... reliving it for the first time. Ugh. It creates a necessary conflict for the novel, though.
