Each time I see trolls call this community a cult, I just laugh. The Spoutible community wanted a place to be themselves without fear of being attacked or bullied. So yes, people here are protective of this space because it's unique to social media.

A red door handle/knocker on a green background. It looks vaguely ancient Egyptian, though definitely more recent. It looks a bit like Hathor. The handle attaches on the lower cheeks.
