My preference is for the days competitive target shooters and hunters are the only ones interested in guns but that will require a mindset change. USians overestimate the efficacy of guns in the hand of people who don't practice and treat them like magic wands. Just look at books and movies!

I can understand that and I imagine it happens to tons of people. I love & support that my friends started families, but I also grieved a little bit because I knew I wouldn't have them in my life much, if at all. I'm always glad my mom was honest with me about her regrets from having me when she did. A baby during grad school definitely derailed some plans. She made it clear she was fine with what did happen but gave me the example of not getting what you wanted but still coming out OK
