I would not be surprised if a verification-from-scratch¹ policy was in the works, but is currently a lower priority than technical aspects (app, threading, optimization, etc.). Quite confident that @cbouzy will announce it when it is ready.

¹: As opposed to the current imported-verification.

I know that when I signed up Day 1, there was a checkbox I could mark to get a "starter pack" of people to follow. Didn't mark it myself, but I suspect those follows take effect as soon as the account is made, which would be before bio/etc. are filled out.

Which browser allows you to open spouts in a new tab? The closest I've been able to manage is opening the spouter's *profile* in a new tab, and locating their spout from there.

The phrase "psychological BDSM" goes through my (admittedly somewhat sleep-dep'd) brain. I don't particularly get it, but as you pointed out, as long as the people involved are into it (and are of appropriate age), I generally dgaf.

(although my empathy might cringe from hearing the teardowns)

From what I've seen, the first two spouts of any reply thread are visible from the top-level spout, but deeper replies are only visible within the specific reply thread (and possibly with similar two-deep visibility limits).

During the recent trollswarm, there was one who had a c/p spammy name that blocked (shoved?) the 3 dots on their spouts, preventing the individual spouts from being reported. Mind you, their *profile's* 3 dots weren't blocked; thus they were still zapped.

Doesn't help for follow-confirms, though.

If your rating exceeds 49% and you're *not* a jerk, try increasing the variety of the formats of your spouts. Using the same catchphrase in the bulk of your spouts, either as intro or outro, tends to ramp up your score.

Given that the shit seems to boil up in the replies, maybe I should read the replies of spouts more often. I grok that wm tend to cause shit in general theory, but I often don't know the specific instances until they're dragged on my TL.

We're more in agreement than you'd think: the pursuit of money over everything IS a major cause of problems in the US.

Changing that is going to require reform at both the legal *and* cultural level, so that people aren't punished for doing what's right over what enriches their bosses.

Tell that to Dominion's shareholders.

By corporate law, companies HAVE TO put their shareholders first — and they can be successfully sued if they don't.

Catchy phrases definitely miss nuance. In theory, candidates should be vetted before primary elections, so you know what you're getting for the general election... but then, that assumes you can vote in the primaries, which can vary from state to state.

Affordability, both in terms of money and in terms of time and/or spoons, is a significant thing that many people don't consider... possibly because they don't realize that others might be missing *at least* one of those three items.

(and that's not even getting into morale food or other things)

Do you want a quick indictment that allows him to skate (by acquittal or overturned on a technicality), or do you want a thorough indictment that is jury-proof and multiple-levels-of-appeals–proof?

I'll take the latter, thanks. Watergate took 2+ years, and this is MUCH bigger.

Just because we prefer to be mellow, doesn't mean we don't know how to fight — we just choose our battles, select the most effective tools and tactics, and take on our foes until they're no longer a threat... and then go right back to being mellow, because we have nothing to prove.

I wonder if the delay is related to the Murdoch reveal — for all I know (and I'm no lawyer), this might be a second round of discovery, amended to take Murdoch's ties into account when seeking documents and such.

I wonder what insights #LawSpoutible can offer us about this?
