With George Santos expelled a reminder that it was The North Shore Leader, a local, small paper on Long Island, that broke the story of his fraud before election. This is why local media is crucial and must be supported and not ignored

HHB to the legendary Donny Hathaway (10.01.1945 Chicago). "He's just the strongest soul singer that ever existed. Call it gospel. Call it soul. Call it whatever you want. That tradition of singing… Black singers, African-American singers. He came from that tradition." — Raul Mido #donnyhathaway

Did you know the desire to escape slavery, was once classified as a mental illness called Drapetomania in 1851.

Black people were considered mentally ill for refusing to live in bondage.

A statement from the NBPA on the Orlando Magic’s recent political donations.
The DaVos family are big donors to the republican party...they just gave DeSantis a big check via the Orlando Magic basketball team and now the NBAPA is calling them out...GOOD JOB!

Black people did not learn agricultural skills via slavery. Let’s be VERY clear.

Black people already had the knowledge and skills!

It was colonists who had no idea how to grow crops and preserve food; so they exploited and bought Black people to put their skills to work in the Americas.

“While bleeding to death in my helicopter after I was shot down, I didn’t care if the troops risking their lives to save me were gay, straight, or of color. Just so they didn’t leave me behind. I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a 5-deferment draft dodger.”

This is my second story about my experience with affirmative action. It also includes my personal brush with the issue of student loans. This time i'm not the person getting helped by either. I'm one alum selected to an important alumni Council of my graduate university, Cornell in Ithaca, NY.

It would’ve been interesting if it had deeply explored those racial & sociopolitical things. But that could be for another #documentary filmmaker. Because what this film aimed to be was just like its title suggests, “a love story.” On that account, it was a great success. #doowop #blackmusicmonth
