That's an irrational reaction that doesn't solve the problem.
Problem: How to have good and effective legislators
There are younger legislators who will have strokes (Fetterman) or battle cancer. Or are bonkers.
Age limits aren't the solution unless you're tryna fix a different (ageist) problem

I second the idea of Benadryl and ice, but there's also a way to mix vinegar and meat tenderizer. It helps break down the proteins of the sting.

I sat in a hearing where (straight) people complained how "expensive" it would be for the U of MD system to cover domestic partners of LGBTQ employees. For real they were asking "Why take on that burden," as if it were some gift.

I hear you, but ... not a helpful comparison.
Open hatred of us LGBTQ people stopped all levels of govt spending. They wanted us dead. The media wouldn't even run ads about condoms. It wasn't lack of equipment or confusion abt keeping the economy alive. Just plain refusal to help "fags."

Congress can deem gifts above $1k to Federal judges to be taxable at punitive levels -- e.g., 300%. And if undeclared at the appropriate time, a further penalty and possibly criminal exposure.
It's a tax rule, and it's enforced by standard IRS procedures.
