Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out The Tourist. Suits was addictive; I binged my way through it last summer while recovering from orthopedic injuries.

I never watch the Super Bowl. And for the past 4 years, Sunday nights in Jan and Feb are reserved for All Creatures Great and Small on PBS.

It's similar here in New England too. Not many days without the AC. I'm near the ocean so it's nice to get a day when the breeze keeps us cooler, but overall we have hotter summers, milder winters than we used to.

I traveled there many times some years ago and I often had good weather. Lots of dramatic skies, and things can change quickly, but I loved the green grass in winter, and the very long days in summer where the sun sets around 10pm.

Ireland ticks some of those boxes for me, and I love that it's green all year round and flowers bloom in winter, but alas, the rain might do me in.

Where is the place that is mild and sometimes cool, with snow in December only, and only one week of hot/hazy/humid in the summer? I can't find that place. 😄

Wow, beautiful landscape. I can see why you want to get back there. Lovely photos!

Is it unbearably hot and humid there in the summer? Our summers in New England are quite humid, July is always a scorcher. My sister is in Lake Tahoe (NV side of the lake) and although the summer is short, it doesn't get humid and it always cools off at night. No AC needed in the house.

Will you head back to your river in the spring? I imagine that it is lovely by the river, even in winter.

I've been thinking about a place to winter, although here in coastal Massachusetts, we haven't had a real winter in a few years. Yesterday was nearly 60 after a weekend snow storm. 🤷‍♀️

Yes, this is one of the Channel Islands. Santa Catalina, off the coast of Long Beach. Really beautiful place.

These fires are devastating, and so many people never get back to the life they had or some semblance of it. How many are forever displaced, unable to afford to rebuild in the place they called home? Heartbreaking.

Same here! You had to be okay with the"unknown" when shooting, until you could get into the darkroom. I loved developing film and printing photos. In the 90s, here in Boston, there were several places where you could rent darkroom time. Not sure if that exists anymore.

I left FB a few years ago *because* of the political lunacy. Old "friends" from my life in NH showed their true selves: angry, hateful, bigoted. That's when I revived my Twitter account; now Twitter is overrun with angry, hateful, bigoted strangers. Trying to find my footing here on Spoutible.

We did the same thing, and my father was often right there with us (and he'd dig a half dome out of the snow and fire up the old charcoal grill in the winter so we could have a bbq!)

Thanks! It was a great place to be a kid. My mom took this photo. The light looks like morning, but I can tell from the angle and direction of the sun that it is late day. I miss that old place sometimes. Did a lot of shoveling when I was a kid!

I'm practicing patience, but in the meantime, I won't be on here as much as I thought I'd be. Using it on my phone via a browser is almost impossible. It's a bit better on my laptop, but still having issues. That's okay. I know they're working it! 😎

It's more problematic on my iPhone, but even on my laptop it's giving me trouble. Just wanted to see if others were also having issues. I'll practice some patience while the platform adjusts.

This is great news, and I understand how much of a relief it is to receive good results like this. Send her a big "Congrats" from a fellow survivor of colorectal cancer!

It's some weird version of ground hog day, where we've seen the shadow and now there's 10 more months of EM.
