No problem! I'll probably do more of these in the future for foreign policy issues.

My guess is Johnson got assurances behind the scenes that some Dems would oppose bringing the motion to vacate to the floor.

Fun fact: Texas had a day this past February where 80% of energy was being supplied from carbon-free sources. This happened in a state with 30 million people.

I didn't save while on disability, but did when I had a job. I was just trying to demonstrate how compounding works, not cover every personal situation ever. Budget::
$1500/month in San Antonio
$400/month for groceries, going out, etc...
$400/month utilities/insurance
$2300/month total

This was a hypothetical to demonstrate compounding and how retiring is still possible, not a catch-all for every personal situation. Many companies had dividends like that before interest rates went up.

That was sarcasm, the "lived experience" thing is turtles all the way down. This was a hypothetical to demonstrate the power of compounding, not find a solution for every last personal situation, which is impossible.

Many stocks pay dividends of 6%, and a high-yield savings account has interest rates north of 5%. Depends on how you allocate your money.

Yep! I can get returns of over 6% a year with little risk. It was perfect when interest rates were low. I would argue right now that parking most of your money in a high-yield savings account is a good idea given where interest rates are.

I saved 2000/month on a 55k salary (before tax). Drove a used pickup bought for in cash. For a bit I lived on disability, which is like 30k/year, and broke even. I believe in giving people the information to empower themselves rather than just repeating that everything sucks.

Guarantee you ranchers and other landowners on the border aren't happy with these stunts either. Basically the only public land on the Rio Grande is in Big Bend, the rest is almost all privately owned.

Just because it’s the intent does not mean it’s effective. Harvard will appoint a new president, the grifters will get their bag, and life will move on.
