From last January: Ainzurgal Totakhil came to America because he thought it would be safer than Afghanistan for him & his family. He was thrilled to be in Durham, NC, and was working hard to get his pregnant wife and seven kids here, too.

My mom took me & my brother to meet Carter at a book signing at the Regulator Bookshop in Durham NC back in 2003/2004. There was a long line at the signing & he seemed nice. Sad to hear he’s in hospice.

Was in an Irish Pub in Durham, NC, and looked up to see the Reader's Digest American Family Heritage Encyclopedia I had in the 1970's. I immediately opened it up to the page and impressed my friends about a state that no one knew existed.

"Urban Renewal" destroyed the majority African-American community of the Hayti Business District (known locally as Black Wall Street) in Durham, NC in the 1950s. Hayti included a variety of black-owned businesses, schools, a library, a theatre, a hotel, & the Lincoln Hospital (built in 1900).

I've read that as well, cats only meow to humans, it's their way of speaking to us, they hear us speaking and do their best to mimic it , but they have very limited vocal chords, but try.
And yes Siamese cats are chatty . Mine is a Snowshoe, Half Siamese.. the chatty half. And the blue eyes

Yesterday and into today, I've started looking into places in Colorado where dad and I can relocate so that I can get Medicaid and, eventually, hopefully--fingers crossed--SSI.

Look, every attempt by someone to wave a poll and fret about Democratic messaging is a win for Republicans. Polls are tools of voter suppression and disinformation. They are meant to have a veneer of scientific legitimacy even as their function is social manipulation.
