I reach out and talk with other's and echo other people's spouts. I've even started a hashtag and I've accumulated some followers yet still, not many people if any give a shit about a turtle so it is what it is.

Take care

My heart aches for the senseless murder of your precious son who had a full life ahead of him that was stolen.

I agree, it's beyond time for #GunReformeNow

I watched a documentary the other day about elephant's.
They don't digest about 55% of what they eat. So their dung has a lot of fiber that can be used to make paper.

It would save on trees and hopefully help protect the elephant's that are poached for their tusks.

Thank you. 💚

I'm trying my best to do right by her.

I've been in awe with how far she's come. She's extremely resilient.

I did the same as you (reading up) when I learned I'd be getting her.
I'm her 4th owner. She was with someone who didn't take the time to learn. He didn't even know she was a female & that requires certain conditions.
I counted the lines in her scutes & I've estimated she's 5 to 7yrs old.

I owe a lot of the credit to The Turtle Girl on YouTube.

Her informative video's helped me to create the proper environment for her.

Thank you for sharing. It's an informative read.

I have a female 7 inch red eared slider. They're a semiaquatic terrapin that usually live in freshwater ponds.

As far as speed, Myrtle is extremely fast in water and supreisingly pretty fast on land too. She circles the house in no time at all.

Same here.

Ironically, the day after the 4th, our chief of police bragged to the media that they really didn't get any calls for illegal fireworks going off. They bragged that it was leff to the professionals.

I guess all my neighbors are professionals now.

Yeah, that's why I couldn't say no when my daughter told me a co-worker's turtle needed a home. She would hiss at her former owner
With me, she'll eat from my hand.

1st pic is how she came to me.

2nd pic is how well she's doing now.

Yes, having a turtle wasn't really planned. I had to do a lot of quick research to ensure I was creating the right environment for her. She's 7 inches & she should've been in at least 70gl of water. She didn't even have proper lighting. I'm her 4th owner. I totally agree about adopting.

So far, I've had zero engagement from anything I share with them.

I give it sometime before I end up sharing it at the other place with people who are excited to hear about them.

I'm trying 😪

Oh yeah, I learned long ago, a lot of bad things happen in life. I'll advocate and be outspoken about it but I'll never let it take control of me.

People who have the least tend to care the most about others. I identify most with those who struggle with systems that keep knocking us down.

Indeed, doctors and nurses can sometimes be difficult patients.

Maybe since she's liking sweets, she'd be ok with a boost drink blended with some frozen strawberries to make it like a smoothie.

Ouch! A broken pelvis is painful. That's good that your step dad is able to take care of her. I'm not sure if she already uses it, there's a thickener that you can use in liquids to minimize choking.
I use to work in assisted living but FIL needed me.

That's got to be hard to have them so far away but extra special when you do see each other.

How many grandkids do you have and how old are they?

I work 7 day's a week in my home caring for my FIL so I can't be gone for longer than 2hrs. I get video calls from the 1yr old which is always nice.

I have 3. The 9 & 5yr old live nearby. I have them stay the night with me once a week.

My youngest, is 1, who's from my eldest daughter. Shortly after she was born, my daughter moved 2hrs away next to her in laws. We butted heads since she believes all of Trumps lies. I see them once in a while.

Yeah, my youngest had my eldest grandkid when she was 19, I was only 41 at the time.
I wasn't to thrilled but it is what it is. All I could do was be there for her. I got to cut the cord when he was born.

Sorry for the delayed response. My grandson called to complain about his braces.

Technically, this is a more recent picture of me now at 51. My profile pic, is when I was in my early 40's. I like it better than now. Lol.

I have a 1, 5, & 9yr old grandkids. The 9yr old just had braces put on today so I'm starting to feel old now.

Ty, for the complement.

They seem to think if they're loud and bold about it, it'll just become accepted as normal behavior to allow.

Yeah, my mom was adopted by her step dad who told her to forget about her native heritage because "you're a white kid now".

I even had a foster dad sit us kid's at the table and tell us to "never bring a n***** into this house or I'll beat them all the way down the driveway".
