There's a Northern Lights watch party going on down here in the Edgewater Park parking lot, like sky-watching tailgaters. It has the FOMO "we fucked up yesterday, give us another chance at it, pleasse" of a 35-year Browns fan praying that the 4th string backup quarterback doesn't get injured too.

My photo looks so lame compared to everybody elses! It was so cool last night. We get forecasts that the aurora might be visible, but they have never panned out before. Last night for about 40 minutes or so it was visible with the eye. The sky has all kinds of strange hues. And you could see spikes

I am amusing myself dreaming about a Bon Iver cover band, in a string band format, with 3 women, and arranging some songs on mandolin. I will never know the right people bc I am an odd ball and amused by such strange thoughts. It would be hella fun, but alas.

Nine albums from 2006-2016 that are incredible full albums. Other great stuff in that decade, but these are the ones that grabbed me and I still listen too. Right now I find it harder to connect with current music. I don’t have a great curation source to filter out the noise. But I’ll keep trying.

2012 Alt-J release An Awesome Wave. Catchy, brilliant writing musically, but a little disturbing if you start thinking about the lyrics too much. Nothing like it really.

2011 Bon Iver releases Bon Iver with a more filled out band. An excellent follow up to the first album. It’s actually an amazing feet to have two excellent and different albums so close in time. But we have come to expect nothing less.

2007 The National released Boxer. Another great full album. NPR again tipped me off to this album on my commute home. The creepy Green Gloves and Fake Empire with its attempted 2 on 3 rhythm that gives it a weightless quality in places. https://music.apple.com/us...

Also 2006. Fox Confessor Brings the Flood, by Neko Case. This is an album! I really wish there were more women in my 2006-2016 list, but this one knocks it out the park. I heard a live performance on npr and was hooked.

Musically the time period 2006-2016 is a time I am stuck in. This was my post-doc, recently married, young mom phase, when I was settling down, but wasn’t settled yet, and wasn’t blindingly exhausted. It saw a great number of amazing full albums by bands I love. I will share some with you today,

I have this very vivid memory from about 10 minutes before my thyroid cancer surgery. The best anesthesiologist in the world came over and said “Time to start the good drugs” and I was instantly incredibly high. The memory is called a pathological memory and is caused (in some people) by opioids.

Ms. Daniels testimony and detailed description was important bc it shows why they wanted to squash the story. It wasn’t a simple consensual affair. It sounds a lot like a premeditated assault to me. It is also important for us (the public) to hear.

One weird thing about watching older shows like Buffy is how long the seasons are. I wish great shows like Fallout got more than 8 episodes a season (and Wheel of Time definitely suffers from its short seasons), but Buffy season 6 has 22 episodes and I'm like .. wow 🍿
