Well, that's creepy! I read that book "Gender Queer", and it is brilliant! It is incredibly well-written and well-drawn! It might be too advanced for most 8th-graders, but if they read it, I hope they can talk to their parents about it. It is more appropriate for older students and adults.

I agree with you! I am old enough to remember his business failures - who goes bankrupt running a casino?- and I have read several books about him. He should have been in prison for life decades ago. Somehow the sleazy Roy Cohn kept him out and doing his business, like the business my dogs do.

Firstly, if you've never seen a case of actual dementia, and you are not a doctor, you can't diagnose him. Of course Trump is unfit to be president. I guess I don't know what you call ableism. I do know that if someone has dementia, there are things they shouldn't try to do, for their own safety.

I think it is mainly a poor choice of words. Nobody uses the term "senile" anymore. I saw the progression of dementia in my mother, but Trump would have to be examined by a doctor to say whether he has dementia or alzheimer's. It looks like it, but he has always been loud and stupid, so who knows?

From what I saw, it looked like they were trying to find a humane way to kill pigs and control the spread of disease. That said, I am vegetarian and have had pigs as pets. They are sensitive, smart, fun-loving animals. The way they are treated is appalling. Pork production systems need to change.

I finally opened an account on Bluesky, and the first "person" who followed me was somebody calling himself "Satan". That scared me so much that I may never go back there. I'm not even considering Threads. Zuckerberg has shown himsrlf to be untrustworthy, so why would I go there?

I have a barn with bales of hay that will keep a cat warm, as well as an outdoor heated cat house. Of my three cats, one refuses to come in the house. I've tried to get her into the house and she runs right back out. She's been a barn cat her whole life, and she does just fine.

I wonder if you can tell me why my pie crust turned hard as a rock. I made it a couple of days ahead of time with AP flour, and left it rolled in a ball wrapped in plastic wrap in the fridge. I precooked it at 475 for 10 minutes. The filling came out fine but you could break a tooth on the crust!

It was just the 2 of us, but our meal was 7 courses, all vegetarian, and mostly out of our own gardens. We drank our amazing homemade cider from our own apples. I made a pumpkin pie from a pumpkin, and everything tasted great. And there are lots of leftovers! Yay!

I've been seeing comments about dementia. If you haven't been through this yet with your parents, buckle your seat belts. Dementia in a loved parent is sad, horrifying, and absolutely heart-wrenching. Then you have to bury your parents, which is also heart-wrenching. I've been through this twice.

The cost of public libraries is a tiny amount. Generally it is a very small percentage of your tax dollars. Yet you get computers, quality, well-reviewed materials that you can borrow, professional Librarians with Master's Degrees, and great, educational programs. All for a few dollars a year.

I also read "Piranesi", and I thought the premise of the book was very interesting. But it didn't make me happy for days. The only book that springs to mind for extended happiness is "Pride and Prejudice". Maybe after a good think, I will come up with a less obvious answer.

Claiming to be on the spectrum is not an excuse to be an asshole. Anyone who is intelligent can choose to learn to be compassionate. The choice is to treat others as you would like to be treated, not as you have been treated. You can use the Golden Rule instead of perpetuating the cycle of abuse.

Well, that sucks. I much prefer to say that I am on the autism spectrum, rather than saying that I am autistic. Of course, my sister and older brother say that they think everyone is on the spectrum, thus negating any claim I make to deserving to be treated with any special consideration.
