“The only difference between a gun chewing gal and a cud chewing cow is the intelligent look on the cow’s face” 😂 One of my roommates used to say this.

Amazing what fair wages can do for job satisfaction and reducing volatility across the board. Who woulda’ thought!?! 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄

I remember climbing out of my crib and lying on the floor behind my half open door, peeking through the crack and watching “life” in the hallway as my older brothers got ready for bed etc. I’m guessing I was about 18 months?

I was just searching to see if there was a solution to this. I like the concept of splashbacks but man, they really confuse my timeline.

I loved the story as well. But this is the only book where I was pulled OUT of the story to seriously wonder if I was reading the author’s rape fantasies. 😬 Intensity of any kind usually pulls me deeper into the book and…omg it’s 2AM??? 😂

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I love historical fiction, but I felt the author enjoyed writing the rape scenes way too much. Actually threw the book across the room at one point. 😬

I think it’s a god complex. He cares more about observing how his words cause ripples around the world - socially, financially and psychologically - than their outcomes. I seriously think he get off on it.

They are in a bit of crisis rn so we get it, but relocating to this new place will HELP alleviate some of it. Catch-22 much? In the meantime, we drive 8 hours round trip to spend 2 days/week helping them out. Glad to do it, but it’s not sustainable.

They just informed us that they are not ready to move (🤯) but we had already made an appointment for lunch and a tour - it’s really a lovely place! So we have told them we want them to stick with the appt if for no other reason than to plan ahead for when they are ready.

Seriously, my 92 and 94 year old in-laws are the dearest people, but they need some minor but important on-site assistance. Can’t seem allay their fears that the independent living facility we are encouraging them to consider is not the “nursing home” aka “halls of elderly horrors” of the 1940’s 😩

I can’t blame my mom - she had six of us kids to feed and get ready for school etc. She was probably psyched for “meatloaf lunch day” lol cause it was so easy. I suspect it was the quality of beef as well as I distinctly remember the waxy coat of congealed fat that coated the roof of my mouth 😬

Ooh. 95 is a bit too hot for me. Toss in a little humidity and I get seriously cranky lol. Supposed to get to 21 tonight. 🥶 Last week I had all the windows open! I know that May can be variable here, but… Just let my dog out and I could see my breath.

IMO we all have an obligation to follow politics closely. Apathy is a part of what got us here. I don’t “like” politics, but the realization that a powerful constituency would like to return us to the 1950’s should have us all horrified and on high alert. Spoutible is here to empower, not to hide.

I really don’t know much about the McCarthy era, but often wonder if sentiments were the same and what happened that caused that era to suddenly end.

Same here! What a different approach from the bird! Every time someone I didn’t know followed me over there I vetted them with suspicion and 9/10 they were bots or creeps. Here on #Spoutible I’m really excited to follow/be followed by such a wide array of people with such different life experiences.
